    "HODL" – What Advisors Need to Know about the New World of Crypto and Digital Assets
    SPEAKER: Jorge Padilla, CFP®, Senior Client Advisor, Lubitz Financial Group, Miami

    Is it just geeks behind the Bitcoin hype? Is Blockchain something to invest in? What is the value of cryptocurrencies or tokens? Attend this dinner meeting on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 and learn about a new world of digital assets and blockchain protocols that aim to disrupt many industries, and financial services is one of them. Some of these blockchain applications have and will create many new millionaires.

    The presentation aims to provide advisors with a foundational knowledge of blockchain protocols, cryptocurrencies, and tokens. We will explore the implications of adding digital assets to a traditional portfolio and provide some possible valuation frameworks around them. Lastly, we will cover a brief overview of the main tax, legal, and due diligence considerations advisors should be aware of. 

    ABOUT JORGE PADILLA: Jorge Padilla, CFP® is a Senior Client Advisor and Principal at The Lubitz Financial Group, a $225 Million fee only RIA based in Miami. Jorge currently leads the client advisory team and investment committee at his firm and brings over a decade of experience working in the financial planning industry. He has a number of published articles, including at the Journal of Financial Planning, and has been quoted at numerous national and local media outlets such as Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger, Money, Miami Herald, among others. He is passionate about furthering the profession and has been held numerous FPA leadership roles including president of FPA Miami and FPA of Florida. Jorge holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Winthrop University where he graduated with honors while being part of the tennis team that won three conference championships.

    HODL is slang in the cryptocurrency community for holding the cryptocurrency rather than selling it. It originated in a December 2013 post on the Bitcoin Forum message board by an apparently inebriated user who posted with a typo in the subject, "I AM HODLING."
